Fernie residents invited to learn more about skatepark progress

Fernie residents can learn more about progress being made on the Skatepark Redevelopment project.

City officials said a second public workshop is set for Thursday, Nov 3.

This will be an opportunity to learn how the project is coming along and hear what the public has had to say so far.

Officials add that there will also be a presentation on the initial concept options, which will be open for feedback.

Fernie’s current skate park is over 20 years old, with ongoing maintenance issues and safety concerns.

“To better fulfill the needs of the growing action sports community, the City will be reconstructing the park to provide site-appropriate modern concrete all-wheel park terrain within the context of an inviting public space welcoming to all citizens,” said Fernie officials.

Doors open at the Fernie Community Centre at 6:15 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6:30.

The city will also accept feedback online through the link below if you can’t attend in person.
