Columbia Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) were active over the weekend, as crews recovered an injured cyclist.
CVSAR officials said a team was dispatched to Westside Legacy trail, on the west side of Lake Windermere.
The team brought the injured cyclist out using a wheeled stretcher to the awaiting BC Ambulance Service crew.
SAR officials are reminding you of the importance of safety while cycling.
“When out and about on our local trails, always prepare for the unexpected by wearing a helmet, just like the subject in this call,” said CVSAR. “Research shows that one of the most effective ways to reduce head and spinal cord injury is by wearing a helmet. Bicycle helmets have been found to reduce brain injury by 88% and reduce facial injury by 65%.”
