Driving while high and crashing into Sparwood’s Save On Foods resulted in several charges for one man.
Elk Valley RCMP said the local detachment got a call about the vehicle crashing into the building just before midnight last Tuesday, May 24th.
Police officials said the vehicle caused significant damage to the front entrance of the Sparwood grocery store.
Local firefighters on the scene had to break the vehicle’s windows to get the man out, as he was unconscious and the doors were locked.
The man was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital for treatment and later released.
Police said the man was arrested for impaired driving by drugs, dangerous driving and possession of a controlled substance.
No other person was injured in this incident.
According to the Elk Valley RCMP, the building’s front entrance had to be repaired, but no other part of the building was damaged.
