The Cranbrook Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service fought a 4-hectare wildfire near ʔaq’am Friday. The fire broke out in the late afternoon.
At the time, the City said no structures or homes were under threat and that a fire perimeter had been established around the blaze
The City did not anticipate there would be any further issues from the wildfire, as it has mostly been contained, due to the quick response of emergency responders.
On the BC Wildfire Service Dashboard, the fire is listed as being person-caused.
No further information about the fire is available at this time, but there is no immediate danger to the public.
