The District of Sparwood is temporarily closing Industrial Road #3, Upper Matevic Road, and Lower Matevic Road in order to improve the gravel roads and ensure the safety of the public.
Starting September 3, 2019, the affected areas will be closed until the construction work has been completed. Cranbrook’s BA Blacktop was contracted to complete the work, as they are expected to remain on site until September 20, 2019.
“Industrial Road #3 and Upper and Lower Matevic Roads will be periodically reduced to single lane alternating traffic for the duration of construction and passage through certain areas may not always be available, except for emergency vehicles,” said the District of Sparwood.
“The areas closed to pedestrian traffic will be identified with closure markers at the trailheads.”
While construction is underway, the District of Sparwood is suggesting that pedestrians use an alternate route.
Anyone travelling in the area can anticipate minor delays due to construction traffic.
