Fire Extinguished at Kimberley’s Selkirk Secondary School

The Kimberley Fire Department responded and extinguished a fire at Selkirk Secondary School Thursday morning.

Responding to the school at 405 Halpin Street at 8:06 am, the Fire Department Command Unit was first to arrive and downgraded the alarm to an electrical fire in the school’s gymnasium.

“Firefighters on scene ensured that the fire did not spread to the structure of the building,” said the Kimberley Fire Department.

“There was minimal structural damage with mid-level smoke contamination to the gymnasium and no injuries to School District personnel or responders.”

The Fire Department remained at the scene until around 9:27 am, which is when the fire was officially declared extinguished.
