Christmas tree pickup to go through Sparwood

Public works crews in Sparwood will be traveling through the community to pick up this year’s discarded Christmas trees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The District of Sparwood said the trees must be at the curb and easy to access for its workers.

On Tuesday, residents in the Sparwood Heights, Whiskey Jack, Elk Valley Trailer Court, Lower and Upper Lodgepole Trailer Court, Matevic Road and Micheal Creek Road areas will have their trees picked up.

The following day, crews will pick up trees in the Spardell Trailer Court, Upper and Lower Sparwood and Mountain View Trailer Court areas.

Sparwood said the Lower Sparwood compost area will also be open to accept Christmas trees until January 15th for those who like to keep their tree up longer.

Trees discarded after the deadline must be taken directly to the local transfer station.
