Rob Morrison officially launches his campaign in Cranbrook on Tuesday as the Conservative candidate seeks to be the new Member of Parliament for the Kootenay-Columbia riding in the upcoming federal election.
Holding an official launch party, Morrison will open his campaign office in Cranbrook at 12:00 pm at 305 – 535 Victoria Avenue N with the help of three Conservative MPs.
Morrison said Blake Richards, Bob Zimmer, and John Barlow will all be there for the campaign launch in the Save-On-Foods parking lot.
Blake Richards is the MP of Banff-Airdrie and the Shadow Minister for Small Business, and Export Promotion, and Tourism while Bob Zimmer is the MP of Prince George-Peace River and Chair of the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics. Meanwhile, John Barlow is the MP of Foothills serves the Conservatives as the Critic for Interprovincial Trade.
“We’re just going to talk to all of the people that come, we’ve invited quite a number of people in Cranbrook so we’re hoping for good attendance,” Morrison told MyEastKootenayNow.com. “We have a lot of room in our office to accommodate, to talk to people and tell them where we’re going and give them our platform on the economy and on the environment and whatever questions they may have.”
The event will run from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Morrison spoke to why he believes Kootenay-Columbia should return to voting blue in the upcoming federal election, believing he will represent the riding well with a government in power.
“It’s probably time, in my opinion, to actually have a representative that will work for Kootenay-Columbia to receive some of the infrastructure funding, receive some of the other assistance that the federal government can help out with, with healthcare, working with the environment, and working generally with the people of the Kootenay-Columbia area including Cranbrook.”
“We have a very good plan for economics when it comes to getting people back to work, for example, the pipeline, and getting a tax base built up so that we can work on the environment with taxing the corporations to work on solutions with technologies so that we can have a cleaner environment,” added Morrison. “I think the Conservative Environmental Plan is robust, it’s actually exactly what I was hoping for and when people read through it, it’s a great plan.”
